OneAcadia to Hold First OneCOMMITTEE Event in Rayne

The parish-wide business alliance OneAcadia has gone “live” opening for membership, launching a web page (with a full-service web site on the horizon), and hiring Interim Executive Director Laurie Suire. As a member-driven organization, OneAcadia depends on partners who share the vision of a vital region that attracts and retains industry and talent.

When becoming a partner or member of OneAcadia, applicants are asked to consider a committee of their choosing with which to work. Business Advocacy, Education, Economic Development, Quality of Life and Membership/Marketing are among those choices. Each committee is chaired by a OneAcadia Board member.

“Committees focused on high quality of life and a safe environment for residents who are educated and employable will have a remarkable effect on the future of Acadia Parish. Through committee service, members can directly impact the climate and culture of businesses and families here at home,” says Suire.

This Wednesday, May 21st OneAcadia members will have their first opportunity to be part of the action-oriented organization. The “OneCommittee” event is designed for members to come together for an overview then break into committees roundtable-style for an hour. The attendees will then reconvene for a briefing from each committee. “We want participants to be aware of the focus of each committee and to feel free to offer their ideas and resources to any project of interest to them,” says Board member Kim Bernard.

Suire shares that OneCommittee will be held from 4-6pm this Wednesday, May 21st at “The Bank” in Rayne (next to The Crossing at Mervine Kahn). In addition to its members, OneAcadia is extending an invitation to anyone interested in this parish-wide unified coalition to join the first meeting. “We want talent and leaders who represent the diversity of our parish and share a pro-business, solution-focused philosophy to ‘come to the table’ and partner with us to do great things for Acadia.”
